Mompiche beach lodge
The Mompiche Beach Lodge, located on the coast of Esmeraldas, is one of the most extraordinary nature and sea experiences that Ecuador has to offer. Covering an area of 70 hectares of tropical forest in the bay of Mompiche and it's nearby surroundings, you will find natural attractions which have been preserved intact over time.
Surf, Ceviche and vistas... A quiet fishing town that is turning into a small Montañita (Surf spot in Guayas). Amazing scenery, great accomodation and food.

Surfing
Mompiche bay offers some of the best surfing in Ecuador. One of the best breaks in the country. Very good lefthander with a tuby takeoff over very sharp lava rocks. Takes strong north swells and usally has good wind conditions.

Only a few minutes from the Mompiche Beach Lodge and near the Mache Chindul reserve, is the mangrove region and dry forest area in which you find trees such as bay leaf, balsa, oak, guayacán and ebony, which are inhabited by howling monkeys, pacas, aardvarks and badgers. The black waters and fresh water lakes shelter invertibrae such as shrimp, crabs, mollusks as well as birds such as the horned screamer, ducks, pigeons, herons and woodpeckers.
In order to explore these ecosystems one can have access by path, canoe or if you prefer an exceptional experience we recommend a journey by sea-kayak through the mangroves and hidden beaches unique to the coast of Esmeraldas.
If it's all about active sports and recreation, we have the necessary infrastructure to play beach volleyball, take bicycle outings, treks in the jungle and horseback rides in the tropical forest or along the seashore; explore the mangroves and learn about indigenous and Afro-Ecuadorian cultures in the area.
