San Jorge Eco lodge
San Jorge Eco-Lodge & Botanical Reserve is an 18th century Ecuadorian farm, situated on 200 acres of untouched, protected land, preserving the wild & natural habitat of the many endemic plants, animals and over 100 different species of exotic birds, native only to the Andes region. We are the only private reserve near Quito, located only 17 minutes from the airport, yet a world away from the noisy metropolis to provide guests with peace and tranquility.
We are close to all the tourist and commercial centers of Quito (colonial Quito is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site), San Jorge Eco-Lodge is located at Km 4 on the Cotocollao-Nono Road. A unique mountain retreat, both celebrating and protecting the environment while providing education and enjoyment of all Ecuador has to offer.
Steeped in heritage and tradition, with a strong focus on conservation, San Jorge Eco-Lodge & Botanical Reserve offers a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere amidst beautiful gardens and courtyards, rich with Spanish-Ecuadorian architecture. Formerly known as Singuna Farm, San Jorge was Once owned by General Flavio Alfaro and illustrious 19th Century President Eloy Alfaro, leader of the Liberal Revolution in 1912 and originator of the Panama Hat.
Nestled into the mountainside of the Pichincha Foothills, San Jorge Eco-Lodge has quickly become a favorite basecamp amongst the international Eco-Tourist community. Many an evening has been spent at San Jorge in front of a roaring fire, sharing digital photos and stories of incredible adventures with friends old and new, and enjoying a local drink while waiting for a wonderful meal.

Our Reserve
While staying at our ecolodge you have access to our botanical reserve:
A unique botanical reserve located near Quito, San Jorge Botanical Reserve is the last bastion of endemic vegetation and wildlife in the Quito area. Over 100 different species of birds make their home at San Jorge including very rare species, such as the recently spotted Greater Scythebill, endangered species, such as the Rufous Antpitta, and highly endangered species such as the Cinerus Conebill.
Over 250 native species of medicinal plants can be found at San Jorge, and tours are given to explain their uses, for both ancient shamanic and modern medical applications. There are two large canyons located at San Jorge, Poroyumi and Singuna, containing two small rivers, fed by Andes Mountain springs which in turn, feed various smaller streams as well as 15 natural and sacred waterfalls. 3 internal roads and numerous smaller trails have been constructed for eco-education and eco-adventure tours, as well as maintenance of the reserve.
